Dr. Ben Taylor and Dr. Milad Minooie have been awarded one of the 2020 鈥� 2021 CHSS Scholarship Support Grants for an application entitled, 鈥淗ow Audiences, Social Media and Traditional Media Interact to Set the Public Agenda on 鈥楳edicare for All鈥�.鈥� The project will study how traditional media messages, social media messages, and audiences鈥� personal beliefs and biases interact to shape the public opinion on important issues of the day. The effects are measured through content analysis of social media posts on the issue as well as the media coverage of the issues between May and August 2020. Utilizing the Agenda Community Attraction (ACA) formula as part of an agendamelding approach, the measured effects will be used to estimate the contribution of various elements to opinion-formation on 鈥淢edicare for All鈥� in the 2020 presidential election cycle.
