Assistant Professor of Screenwriting

Anna Weinstein is Assistant Professor of Screenwriting and Coordinator of the graduate certificate in Screen and Television Writing. Her research and creative work focuses on writing for film and television, women鈥檚 representation in film and television, and industry studies. She mentors MAPW students on capstone projects ranging from feature screenplays to pilot scripts to screenwriting research thesis papers. Anna is editor of the  book series (Routledge) and  (Bloomsbury). She serves as secretary of the international  (SRN) and co-chair of the Film area for the Popular Culture Association. Anna鈥檚 screenplay projects include a limited series based on the life of Georgian author, Lillian E. Smith, and an adaptation of Richard Chase鈥檚 鈥淭he Jack Tales鈥 for producer Robert Mitas (Ratched) with Jay Russell (The Water Horse) attached to direct. Her most recent book is  (Routledge, 2023).
